Innovative animal and human-ORGANOid platform to advance understanding of vesicle-induced MICROenvironment, in pathology throughout the LIFE course (ORGANOMICROLIFE)

Pathologies throughout life course are often related to dysregulated immune responses that may affect overall health surveillance. Epidemiologic studies suggest that throughout life, immunity may be affected by dysreactivity due to hyperactivation, or downregulation of the main immune regulators. Both stand for pathologic conditions where cellular communication in microenvironment may be affected leading to immune-mediated disease or increased cancer risk.

Organoid and tumoroid 3D technology is an extremely innovative research opportunity to deeply investigate pathogenetic mechanisms in immune-mediated disease and cancer. By taking the opportunity of building an internal university project, where interdisciplinarity, expertise and knowledge is fused together, we propose to realize a specialized platform for organoid generation addressed to investigate tissue microenvironment in terms of vesicle release in cancer and immune-mediated diseases.
